Windows 7 legacy apps
I guess someday I might want to upgrade Windows, but in doing so, would I lose the ability to play old games like this? In my specific example: 64bit drivers for their hardware is non existent, period.
How long as Windows XP 64bit been around? How many years has Vista been out? The recession has hit many parts of the world, but this is a very recent thing and Palm has had several years to work on their 64bit support.
The same can be said of several other companies with their 64bit support as well. All it will do is keep some lazy companies from updating their drivers.
My current example: Palm yes, they are still around and Vista You cannot sync with the cradle on Vista You can use IR and BT, but not with the cable and plenty of people are complaining. How do you get passed it? Use VMWare! Still, hardware advances has made this all possible with more cores, more memory, etc. And since I linked my post, I shoudl note that the person I was replying to explicitly mentioned Virtual PC on the Mac, which was a PPC-only app and therefore never used virtualization.
This is certainly neat. Great thing to have IMHO. Currently I am running vista x64 at work but have to have a VirtualBox of XP for some legacy bit apps that refuse to even run on a bit OS. This would save me the use of an extra license of XP. My only hangup with VirtualBox is its lack of smp in a guest OS.
This is a good idea that will reduce the fear that some IT departments might have regarding moving to Windows 7 from XP skipping Vista. I hope that it has a mode whereby the XP application window can appear on the Windows 7 desktop like a Windows 7 application, not within a virtual XP desktop.
Type search above and then hit Enter. Some will be marked Prompt by default, but most will be marked Disable. Go ahead and set them all to Enable. When you reach the last setting, be sure to set the File Downloads option to Enable as well. All these settings control how your trusted web applications function, by allowing ActiveX controls to run without an issue. The File Download option lets you click within your trusted web apps and allow external files, such as PDF reports, to open from the browser.
With these changes, you can now safely run your legacy web apps on Windows Enabling ActiveX controls on your global Internet Explorer settings is a security risk. Have you tried running your organization's legacy web apps on Windows 10?
