Eject key windows 7
When you feel resistance, push inward until the tray pops open. Sometimes the LED light and manual release holes will look very similar. If the paperclip doesn't easily insert into the hole, don't force it—you've likely found the light rather than the release hole.
Pull the tray out. Gently pull the tray away from the drive to open it fully. Remove the stuck disk if applicable, and then push the tray back in when you're finished. Turn the computer back on then test the drive's eject button or use Windows File Explorer to see if the drive will eject normally. If you are only able to eject the tray with a paperclip going forward, you'll need to have the drive serviced. Method 3. If you've tried other methods and still can't eject the tray, you may need to open the CD drive internally.
Turning off your computer will stop the disk from spinning and make it safe to open the drive. Press the Power button on the front of the computer. It should release, moving to the "Off" setting. Remove the side panel from the computer. Check your PC's manual for specific instructions. Generally speaking, if there are thumbscrews, you can unscrew them by hand. Other screws can be loosened with a screwdriver.
Once unscrewed, press lightly on the panel and slide it rearward until you can remove it completely. You should see a power cable connecting it to the inside of the computer.
The connector is usually on the back of the drive and made of plastic with 4 attached wires. If the cable was not connected, connect it securely now. This was likely the problem. Remove the power cable and try another. Exchange the original power cable with another that is not in use. If your CD drive will not open, it may be an issue with its power source. Try replacing the cable that plugs into the back of the drive. If you cannot find another free power cable, try reattaching the original power cord into the drive after unplugging it.
Replace the side panel of your computer and plug in its power cords. If the drive's power source prevented it from ejecting, it should now be resolved. Can you instruct me as to how I can place this shortcut on my quick launch or taskbar? Dragging doesn't work. Find the application in the Windows File Explorer. Right click while the cursor is placed on the application and the pop up menu should have a Pin to Task Bar option.

The Eject key does not exist on my Microsoft keyboard, and there does not seem to be easy way to do map another key to that key through System Preferences. I don't know how to map a key to the Eject key, but you can easily create a new shortcut with Automator and Services:.
Configure, on the top right corner, that the service should receive no input in any application. Then paste this AppleScript script:. Save the service. Use a descriptive name, as it is the name that will appear in the Services menu. You can see in the screenshot above that I named the service Lock Screen. Open System Preferences, select Keyboard and then the Shortcuts tab.
Under General locate Lock Screen and assign a key shortcut to it. As you can see, I chose Control Command L :. The Lock Screen service is now accessible from any application as an entry in the Services menu:. The eject key unfortunately does not have a key code, so either they keyboard supports it or it doesn't, and you have to make a workaround.
You can create a new shortcut by following these steps:. Open Automater and create a Service with a single "Run AppleScript" action, containing the following code:. Make sure the Service is set to receive "no input", and work in "any application".
Save it with a name of your choosing. Go into Keyboard preferences, click on the Shortcuts tab, and click on Services.
The newly created service should be near the bottom. Click on the service, then click on "add shortcut", and specify a shortcut to your liking. Posted on Nov 2, PM. Page content loaded. Nov 2, PM in response to zackmd1 In response to zackmd1. Nov 2, PM.
